Session Log 2001-08-05: Larkspur, Homebase (at the time)
11:00pm
I thought I'd give it a whirl again for about an hour or so. Let's see how fast I can get this thing set up. Ready? ....Go!
Five minutes flat. Scope is set up, leveled, and aligned. On to the Moon.
I chose the 40mm this time for the wider angle of view. I can't seem to get the focusing down on the scope camera combo. The Nikon Coolpix 950 has limited aperture settings. What looks in focus in the scope is out of focus with the camera. The aperture difference is a pain.
The picture below, after a number of tries at different settings, was taken at f/10, 40mm eyepiece, ND Filter, shutter speed 1/125, aperture f/4.2, spot focus control and a manual focus setting of .66ft. Much better than last time.
There must be a better setting, but that will have to wait for another night. The moon has gone behind the trees.
